Og Powerlifting

What is Powerlifting?

Powerlifting has three lifts: the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift. Powerlifting competitions may be comprised of one, two or all three of the lifting disciplines.

Athletes are categorized by sex, age and body weight. Each competitor is allowed three attempts at each lift, the best lift in each discipline being added to their total. The lifter with the highest total is the winner. In cases where two or more lifters achieve the same total, the person with the lightest body weight wins.

At OG, it is encouraged that everyone be on some type of strength journey. The great thing about powerlifting is that not only can you begin at any age and strength level, but you can continue to train as long as you want to and never really age out of the sport. Paul handles all of the programming for our powerlifters and loves to encourage everyone to get on the platform and compete under the rules and standards of a sanctioned meet. People often discover a new passion in the sport, and are driven to want more!
